Valentine Tea Party

Valentine Tea Party

We made it through approximately 138 days of January, and now Love Month is officially here!

Valentine's Day is such a refreshing holiday to me, because coming off of the actual "Holidays", there is so much less pressure for this one! You can do as much or as little as you want to celebrate, you are not beholden to long standing traditions, and showering my favorite people with love is totally my jam!

I have seen some really cute ways to celebrate Valentine's Day, mostly in the form of darling DIY valentine cards + treats. Many years ago, on a whim, my oldest daughter and I decided to have a tea party in our living room while her baby brother napped, and that's how our Valentine's Day tea party came to be. It is "loosely" a tradition that we keep each year, but I really don't put a lot of pressure on myself to make it an extravagent event. We rummage though our fridge and pantry to see what snacks and treats we can cobble together. And truly, serving things in miniature form are what makes it "fancy" and fun. We have a mismatched collection of vintage tea cups and saucers that we bring out for the event, and serve room temp tea.

Some years, we do it over breakfast, sometimes its a lunchtime tea, and other years its been after school. We really just make it work around whatever our schedule happens to be for that day.

This year I am on the ball, and found some cute heart themed treats at Aldi. And because the sight of all that sugar gives me heart palpitations, i'll likely slice up some fresh fruits and veggies to balance it out a bit.

It's really so simple, but also so sweet, and my kids look forward to it every year.

Wishing you a Valentine's Day filled with love and warm memories with your favorite little people!
